Presented by: Liam Rose is a health economist and investigator with the Health Economics Resource Center at VA Palo Alto. His research focuses on applied microeconomics with an emphasis on econometric techniques that can provide causal inference. His work focuses on access to care, utilization, and changes in health in the transitions to Medicare and retirement. Liam has a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Talk Title: “An Introduction to Casual Inference with Observational Data.”

Title: “What Surgeon-Scientists Need to Know About New NIH Requirements”

Bio: Kristen Davis, MPH is the Lead Social Science Research Professional and has been working at Stanford since 2013, she joined S-SPIRE in March of 2018. She has a background in biology as well as public health. She supports multiple Principal Investigators with their current funded projects as Project Manager, she also is the Supervisor to the Social Science Research Professionals within S-SPIRE. Kristen also assists with the grant submission process within the Department of Surgery acting as a liaison with the Research Management Group. She is passionate about her work and works hard to help make sure Stanford remains a competitive research institution.

Presented by: Todd Wagner is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University. He studies health information, efficiency and value, and health care access. He is particularly interested in developing learning health care systems that provide high value care. In addition to his role at Stanford, he Directs the Health Economics Resource Center and is the Associate Director for the Center for Innovation to Implementation, both at the Palo Alto VA. He also co-directs the VA/NCI Big Data Fellowship.
