Bio


Arden M. Morris, MD, MPH is professor and vice chair of clinical research in the Department of Surgery, director of the Stanford-Surgery Policy, Improvement Research and Education (S-SPIRE) Center, and core faculty in the Stanford Department of Health Research and Policy. Dr. Morris joined Stanford in 2016 from the University of Michigan where she was an associate professor and division chief of colorectal surgery. In her research, she uses mixed methods to focus on improving quality and equity in surgical care. She has deployed her expertise in a number of leadership and advisory roles and policy panels such as National Quality Forum’s Consensus Standards and Approval Committee and the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee.

Bio


Laura is a health services researcher with a wide variety of experience in data management and analysis, including large multi-center health services and outcomes research studies, provider survey studies, and laboratory-oriented research. Her research interest includes surgical outcomes research, informatics, and implementation science to translate evidence into practice. The bulk of her research experience is centered around the use and analysis of large administrative datasets collected by the Veterans Health Administration. She has been involved in a multitude of Health Services Research & Development funded and unfunded studies using these administrative data to assess surgical outcomes.

The 2024 Education Retreat will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 at the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo ParkThis annual retreat is hosted for the Department of Surgery residency programs (GenSurg, Plastics, Vascular) with the purpose of creating a collaborative environment for trainees and faculty to address common program challenges. Residency program directors, associate program directors, site directors, program managers/coordinators and program-selected residents are invited to attend. No additional guests are allowed unless approved by the VCE.
