Talk Title: “Optimizing Postoperative Triage of Patients After Inpatient Surgery Within the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System.”
Bio: Dr. Filiberto started as vascular surgeon at Stanford and the Palo Alto VA in August 2025. Did Vascular Surgery fellowship at University of Alabama at Birimingham and general surgery at University of Florida in Gainesville. Have an in interest in biomedical data science and clinical decision support.

Presented by: Kathryn Taylor, MD, General Surgery Resident, Department of Surgery, Stanford University
Talk Title: “Evolution in the Medical and Surgical Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the U.S., 2007-2021”
Bio: Kathryn Taylor is a General Surgery resident at Stanford. Prior to medical school, she worked on economic development and implementation science projects in rural Nicaragua and Honduras. She earned her MD at Harvard Medical School, during which she was a research fellow in Rwanda with the Program for Global Surgery and Social Change and Fulbright Scholar. She is an alum of the National Clinician Scholars Program at the University of Michigan, where she completed a Master’s in Health and Healthcare Research. Her research focuses on improving access to timely, affordable, quality surgical care for all. She is currently studying Inflammatory Bowel Disease under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Dawes, and hopes to pursue a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery after residency.

Talk Title: “Beyond the Diagnosis: The Role of Persistent Poverty in Colon and Rectal Cancer Care.”
Bio: Leon Naar is a fourth year General Surgery resident at Stanford, currently conducting research under the mentorship of Dr. Aaron Dawes. His work focuses on health services research in Colon and Rectal Cancer patients. After residency, Leon’s goal is to pursue fellowship training in the field of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
