2024 ARM – Call for Abstracts
The 2024 Call for Abstracts period is open until Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
As the world’s largest gathering of users and producers of health services research, the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) is the preeminent place to share important findings with experts from around the world who can move research into action.
This year’s ARM is organized around 21 themes and five submission categories. All individual abstracts and research panel submissions undergo blind peer review. Policy Roundtables and Panels on Critical and Emerging Issues in Health Services Research (HSR) submissions are not blinded. Breakouts will be 75 minutes, and all submitters should be prepared to present in-person. Talk Title: “Obesity in Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury – A work in progress”
Bio: I am a fellowship-trained minimally invasive and bariatric surgeon, who is involved in national surgical and specialty societies. My area of clinical and research interest is in outcomes of metabolic and bariatric surgery in special populations. As a surgeon at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital, I am specifically interested in the outcomes of weight loss surgery in obese Veterans, who represent a population with a significant burden of co-morbidity, as well as challenging social, economic, and geographic circumstances. In addition, I am currently studying Veterans with spinal cord injury, with a goal to identify gaps in assessment and management of obesity in this special population.
